Lectors perfom a vital ministry at our liturgical celebrations as they proclaim the Word of God to the assembly. Lectors read the First and Second Readings as well as the Prayer of the Faithful (when no deacon is present.) However, lectors are more than just "readers"; they proclaim the Word of God and serve as witnesses to thier own faith. In general, those who serve in this capacity have a love of Scriptures and a rich and sustained faith life that they share with others through their minsitry.
A training session for new lectors is held yearly and renewal programs for returning lectors are also offered. Each year, lectors receive a Lector Workbook that contains materials to help them prepare the readings that they will be proclaiming at Mass. Some additional resources for lectors include:
Daily Bible Readings: To find the daily Mass readings you can click here for a link to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) website which includes the daily readings:

Bible Pronunciation Guide: See
http://netministries.org/bbasics/bbwords.htm which provides audio pronucniations for difficult names and places that lectors may encounter in Scriptural readings.
Lectors at St. Tim's are scheduled to read about 1-2 times per month.
